What is Salted Caramel?

Salted Caramel is a women-first dating app in India where men pay a small token — a toffee, worth a few rupees — to send a 'hi' to a woman. Each week a woman sees the top 15 gestures directed at her, ranked by how much attention was invested. She replies to whichever she wants; the rest are never seen.

How does Salted Caramel work?

There are three moves. First, a man sends a small paid gesture (a toffee) — cheaper than a coffee, but never zero. Second, a woman's weekly feed shows the fifteen highest-value gestures she received. Third, she replies to who she wants, and never sees the rest. Silence is a complete answer — no notifications go to the men she passes on.

Is Salted Caramel free?

It is free to download and free to join. Women use the app free — they never pay to see gestures, reply, or match. Men also join free but pay small in-app tokens (toffees) to send a gesture. There is no premium tier that unlocks who you can reach.

What is a toffee and how much does it cost?

A toffee is the small paid gesture a man sends to make his 'hi' visible. It costs a few rupees — much less than a coffee — and can be topped up in bundles inside the app. The exact price is intentionally low: the point is not the money, it is that the sender had to pause and choose before sending.

Do women pay anything?

No. Women use Salted Caramel entirely free. There is no premium tier or paywall on any feature that affects who a woman sees, who she replies to, or what she gets to view in her weekly feed.

Who can join Salted Caramel?

Adults 18 and older living in India. Every profile is selfie-verified before it can be seen in a feed. Salted Caramel is currently open to women and men; more inclusive orientation options are planned as the app matures.

How is Salted Caramel different from Bumble, Hinge, or Tinder?

On Bumble, Hinge and Tinder the 'hi' is free — which is why an average woman receives hundreds of unread messages a week and gives up. On Salted Caramel each 'hi' costs the sender a small toffee, so senders self-filter. Instead of an infinite inbox, women get a curated weekly feed of the fifteen most-invested gestures. No swiping queue, no 24-hour timers, no premium gates.

Is Salted Caramel available on iPhone / iOS?

Not yet. Salted Caramel is available on Google Play (Android) at launch. The iOS version is in development and will follow.

What cities is Salted Caramel available in?

Salted Caramel is available across India via Google Play. City-specific rollouts and features may launch over time based on user distribution.

How does verification work?

Every user goes through selfie verification during onboarding. A live selfie is checked against the profile photos before the profile can appear in anyone's feed. Verification cuts down catfishing and fake profiles; it is the first thing we ship, not an afterthought.

Do men know if a woman ignored their toffee?

No. A man knows only whether the woman replied. He is never told 'she saw your toffee and passed'. Silence is a full sentence, and there is no way to argue with someone else's inbox.

What if I don't like anyone in my weekly fifteen?

Reply to none. Nothing bad happens. Your feed refreshes with the next week's top fifteen. There is no streak to break, no penalty, and no push notification pressuring you.

Is Salted Caramel safe?

Every user is selfie-verified. Anyone can be reported or blocked from their profile or chat header, and reports are reviewed by a human. Salted Caramel does not share your phone number, location, or private messages with other users. See the safety page for the full list of commitments.

How do I delete my account?

Use the delete option in the Me tab, or email the team. Deletion removes your profile, photos, and messages you authored within 30 days. We keep minimal enforcement records (report history, ban list) so we can prevent bad actors from returning.
