About
The dating app for women who’d rather not scroll.
Salted Caramel is a women-first dating app built in India. Men pay a small token — a toffee, worth a few rupees — to send a ‘hi’. Each week a woman sees the top fifteen gestures directed at her, ranked by how much attention was invested. She replies to whichever she wants. The rest are never seen.
Why we built it
The founding conversation started with a friend saying she had deleted Bumble on Sunday and reinstalled it Monday for the fourth week in a row. The apps had stopped filtering. Everyone was tired.
The design decision that unlocks everything: put a small price on the opener. Not to make money on it — to change who bothers to send one. Every other product decision — the weekly fifteen, no timers, no premium tier, silence as a reply — follows from that.
Where we’re at
- Live on Google Play (India). iOS in development.
- Selfie verification for every profile at onboarding.
- Small founding team. Building in public. Iterating fast.

Working here
We are not actively hiring, but we always want to meet product people who care about dating economics and Indian consumer behaviour. Send us your work; we read every message that says something real.
